What can a dental assistant perform?
- Asking questions to verify the history taken by the dentist or dental hygienist (medication/health questionnaire)
- Performing a plaque color test
- Mapping the condition of the gums
- Removing tartar and plaque above the gumline
- Polishing teeth
- Applying fluoride
- Providing information and instruction on dental care.
In addition, after completing additional courses, a dental assistant can also perform other procedures, such as sealing teeth.
