Tooth knocked out? In the event of an accident where a permanent tooth has been completely knocked out, including the root, re-insertion only has a chance of success if it is done within 60 minutes. Quickly locate the tooth, grasp it by the crown, and rinse it with milk, or have the patient lick or suck it clean. Never use water or cleaning agents. Then re-insert the tooth. Go to the dentist immediately. If you are unable to re-insert the tooth yourself, the following applies: Keep the tooth in milk (or otherwise in the space between the molars and the cheek) and come to the practice immediately. You will then receive priority treatment. Please call ahead so we can make a treatment room available. Outside office hours, you can contact the Dental Mediation Agency mentioned above, where you will be referred to the dentist on duty.
Lost baby tooth? Never re-insert a lost baby tooth. This could damage the new permanent tooth. However, it's important to contact us as soon as possible so we can assess whether any further damage has occurred.
