Teeth whitening

Smoking, drinking too much tea or coffee, or eating highly colored foods can cause stains on your teeth. This is called extrinsic staining, or discoloration from outside the teeth. There are toothpastes on the market that can help remove stains, but they cannot change the color of your teeth.

How do yellow teeth develop?

The color of your teeth, just like the color of your hair and eyes, is determined by your DNA. As we age, the dentin changes color and teeth become more yellow. Dentin is the soft bone that lies beneath the enamel and protects the nerve of your tooth. This discoloration occurs from within and is called intrinsic discoloration. You cannot remove intrinsic discoloration with an anti-tartar toothpaste.
